Banned Book: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. by Judy Blume

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is a cute and touching pre-teen novel.

Margaret and her friends form a secret club to talk about boys they like, periods, and bras. The girls deal with jealous, immaturity, and a desperate need to fit in and grow up.

It's sincere and sweet, with Margaret's struggle to find religion just the icing on the cake. Granted, controversial subjects pop up left and right: religion, breasts, Playboy magazine, kissing boys, weight issues, periods, promiscuous girls, crushes on teachers, and bras. All stuff mothers don't want their little girls to read, for fear they will grow up. Nothing offensive in my mind though.
