"Her laugh turned to a moan at the first ripple in her bones. She tensed her thighs and abdomen to will the change on, and clutched the night air like a lover as her fingers lengthened and her nails sprouted. Her blood churned with heat like desire. The night, she thought, the sweet night."
Vivian Gandillon relishes the change, the sweet, fierce ache that carries her from girl to wolf. At sixteen, she is beautiful and strong, and all the young wolves howl for her. But Vivian still grieves for her dead father; her pack is in disarray, and she feels lonely and lost. She longs for a normal life. But what is normal for a werewolf?
Then Vivian falls in love with a human, a meat-boy. Aiden is kind and gentle, a welcome relief from the squabbling pack, and Vivian longs to reveal herself to him. Surely he would understand her and delight in her dual nature, not fear her as an ordinary human would. Vivian's loyalties are divided further when a brutal murder threatens to expose the pack. Moving between two worlds, she does not seem to belong in either. What is she really-human or beast?
Gutsy and gorgeous, Vivian will cast her spell over readers in Annette Curtis Klause's fast paced, sensuous story infused with moonlit magic.
Great book, definitely. Klause has such an amazing descriptive style that I felt totally immersed in the story. The characters were great, the plot was wonderful. I'm not sure why I waited so long to read this book.
From checking around online, it looks like the book was banned for being too sensual for the age group (the book says 14 & up). I guess it is up to each parent to decide what is too sensual for their child. I personally did not find the book graphic at all. Kids will probably get more sensuality out of watching Gossip Girl. Also, what a lot of parents do not seem to realize is that just because a kid reads something, doesn't mean they will run out and do it.
This book contained: murder, alcohol, fighting, guns, kissing, groping, condoms, nudity, allusions to sex, teen romance, and the cuss words shit & bitch. It wasn't saturated with those things though, and I feel they were tastefully done.
Side Note: Vivian's mother's name was Esme (just like Rosalie, Emmett, Edward, Jasper & Alice Cullen's mother in the Twilight Saga). Also, in this book, humans and wolves cannot breed and make hybrid babies (unlike the Twilight Saga).

My banned book club is reading this and I can't figure out why it's banned in high school. Sure there is some cursing, violence and sexual tension, but the kids are all use to that in teen books!
